The HP Smart Storage Administrator CLI (HP SSACLI) is a commandline-based disk configuration program that helps you configure, manage, diagnose, and monitor HP ProLiant Smart Array Controllers and now other storage devices as well, such as host bus adapters (HBAs), HP Storage controllers, and future devices such as SCSI Express drives, and SAS switch devices. HP SSACLI replaces the existing HP Array Configuration CLI Utility, or ACUCLI, with an updated design and will deliver new features and functionality for various Smart Storage initiatives as they come online. HP Smart Array Advanced Pack 1.0 and 2.0 features are now part of the baseline features of HP SSACLI, with the appropriate firmware.HP SSACLI will allow you to configure and manage your storage as before, but now with additional features, abilities, and supported devices. Reboot Requirement: Reboot is optional after installation. Updates will be effective after reboot. Hardware stability will be maintained without reboot.
Installation:
If there is an older version of HPE SSA installed on the system, please uninstall it by going to 'Control Panel -> Uninstall a program' and then uninstall 'HP Smart Storage Administrator'.
Download the Smart Component to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The downloaded file is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the Smart Component Number.
From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file.
Click the 'Install' button to proceed with the installation. The utility will automatically be installed.
When the installation is complete, click the Start button and navigate to Programs/HPE System Tools/HPE Smart Storage Administrator CLI. This will run the CLI in a command prompt environment.

When using the CLI console, pressing the up arrow does not cycle through commands in Linux.
Using the * character outside the console does not work properly.
CLI commands are not editable when they wrap to the next line.
When using Linux as the host operating system, if a Smart Array controller has 16 or more volumes configured, deleting any volume in HPE SSA will not update the /proc/partitions to reflect the deletion of the device node associated with that volume. Rebooting the server will cause the update to happen. Note that there is also a limitation that only the first 16 volumes configured will be available to the operating system.
